Amy Chaiklin states “I am a lady artist, portray empowering pictures of girls from the woman gaze.” She explores femininity with evocative illustrations or photos of mythical and contemporary goddesses. What sparked your curiosity for the arts and to turn into an artist? All my everyday living have been drawings and painting. I love hues.

You were being a student of Elaine de Kooning. What did you discover  from her? 

Elaine de Kooning was my drawing teacher durning the Summer time of 1976 in Paris, France when I examined with the New York Studio University. In her course we drew with charcoal sticks on paper from reside designs. Ms. de Kooning was extremely interested in training us the worth of the line gesture, even the erased line, as she considered the pentimento of the erased line included depth to the drawing.

Can you share about your latest project Cultured Pearl Portraits? what is your procedure and how do you decide the  women in the collection? 

My ’Cultured Pearls Portraits’ painting challenge (2017-ongoing) is composed of far more than 150 portraits that honor the sisterhood of artists and curators that have inspired, affected, and supported my function. Just about every portrait is a present of appreciation. With each other these portraits are a visual documentation of the assorted up to date women of all ages artists and curators working these days, and all those that have come before us to lead the way.
The portraits are sources from pictures that I have taken of every single girl or posted on social media. It is vital for me to paint my perception of every single artist’s and curator’s essence by honoring their individual stance, specific hairstyles, and style alternatives. I draw every lady with her eyes dealing with ahead as they each individual seem specifically out at the earth.

Can you share some of the best activities, the achievements you are the most proud of ? 

I have been portray on the topic of woman empowerment and sensuality for 40 a long time. For the previous 27 a long time I have been a training artist whilst also remaining a mother.

What are your current/impending assignments?  

Firstly I would like to thank Laurence de Valmy for interviewing me and publishing this job interview with photos of my artworks in the Curious Frenchy Website.

I also take pleasure in my recent chances to speak about my get the job done.
