Do you ever remember who the artist was who you talked baout for selling through Instagram?

Oh yes. His name was John Puzzouli .  He’s absolutely fantastic. He makes beautiful crystalline pottery and hammers them on the floor to take the bases off.

Yes. John Puzzouli episode 821.

So 50 years in clay. What are you doing to celebrate the the fifty years of clay?

Lots of little things. I recreated a lot of the small animals that mum and I made first of all. So pigs, the ducks, whales, all of those. They have all gone out and been sold now, well there are one of two left. That was our big celebration.

How are you celebrating your customers that have been with you all these years?

By loving and looking after them. (laughter) My current customers are all Instagram and online, they are a new bunch. So the older ones…mum’s customers have mainly passed away. So yeas, just keep on loving them.

Do you have special names for the pieces you are recreating?

Yes, those dratted ducks. Flipping pigs. Not more whales! Umm, no they are just pigs, whales, and ducks.

Is your work also a celebration of your region? Of where you are?

I think so. Yes. There’s an awful lot of New Forest ponies.

Are you communicating to  your new people this is not a new thing this is a fifty years ago thing?

Yes, bless them, they have all been following along with the anniversaries. It’s 40 years for the business and 50 years for me. They are probably thinking, Good grief woman why don’t you retire. And  I can’t. (laughter) Yes, these are on the whole people I gathered from Instagram. I have a lovely community.

Is there a specific date that you are celebrating? A pinnacle?

We just passed it. We decided that we would run it all the way through September. That it would be the big month. We did some shows and a couple of shops had our work. They have all filtered out to various customers. But September was the big month.

What are you going to do after the celebration? After the fifty years are over? Are you going to keep making pots?

Try and stop me. Mother retired three times and came back. I’ve only retired twice.
