Istanbul-centered artist Marina Glebova envisions a post-apocalyptic dream globe inhabited by enchanting plush characters. Hybrid creatures with both animal and human capabilities are users of the artist’s Northern Forest community, a heat and welcoming refuge amid the chaotic catastrophe of the imagined outside the house universe. Dressed in levels and whimsical headdresses, the figures are typically extremely expressive with significant, astonished eyes, large smiles, or sly grins.
Glebova shares with Colossal that she usually starts by producing the confront or head, which assists to figure out the figure’s entire body and clothes. “The narrative, the story, always seems at the stop of the interaction with the doll,” she claims. “When the doll or collection of functions are prepared, I can look at them in a detached way and translate the inner thoughts that have arisen into a story, thereby connecting them to the rest of the people already living in this universe.”
