Maria Marino delivers the vivid colours of her day-time landscapes into the night time with her pastel nocturnes. See far more of her function (the two working day and evening) in our Voices of Experience post. We’ve requested some of our favourite artists to present us examples of their evening time paintings and to convey to us a minor little bit about their processes in this sequence of Nocturne Notes.
Marino shared with us these two examples of her exuberant, expressive pastel nocturne paintings. She explained to us that her objective is in “catching the secret of that specific time of night”

“In the finish, it is about receiving the viewer to truly feel
somewhat than to recognize, to examine instead than to look at,
and to appreciate it alternatively than to go it by.”
