“VINCENT VAN GOGH”- His short biography and famous paintings

“THE ONLY TIME I FEEL ALIVE IS WHEN I AM PAINTING”– Vincent Van Gogh.

Van Gogh was born in 1853 in Netherlands and grew up in Holland. He was raised in a religious family and his father was a minister. After ending up of his school, he started to work as an art dealer with one of his uncle, learning the trade in Holland and working in France & England. At initial stage he was successful and happy with his work, but later he lost interest in art trade especially in Paris and returned home. He then began to study theology, he was intelligent, able to speak multiple languages but failed to clear a couple of exams. Afterwards, he worked a a missionary in a coal mining community, during this period he started taking interest in those around him, this was the beginning of his career as an artist.

In 1880, when he was 27 years old, Gogh entered the Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Belgium. The following winter he fell in love, got his heart broken and started painting.

During 1885, he painted his famous painting-“Potato Eaters” while struggling for love and life. Afterwards, he  was fully devoted to painting, studying color theory, exploring works of famous artists. Some is his most famous paintings are “Sunflowers” and “the Starry Night
After just ten years of painting and producing near about 900+ paintings Gogh’s health began to decline coupled with frequent visits to hospitals and mental illness.

In the year 1890, he took his life. His life is said to be a “tortured one”.

After just twenty years of his death his works got huge recognition all around the world and later fetch him great popularity and recognition.
