Bryan Mark Taylor shared with us his paintings of cityscapes in twilight and nighttime lights in our interview with him here:  Voices of Encounter – Bryan Mark Taylor. He elaborated even further on his nocturne palette for our “Nocturne Notes”.

“For my nocturne palette, I especially like to use Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Violet, Manganese Violet, Viridian, Alizarin Crimson and Clear Oxide Purple. The heat brown aids preserve the paint mixtures from finding far too cold. I locate these topics inspirational due to the fact the delicate coloration and value shifts make a prosperous, moody emotion.”

“Just one of my recently finished items is called Loire Valley Twilight. This piece was centered on a plein air sketch built in 2018 and highlighted a degree of realism. Even so, it is a diligently composed piece wherever I experienced to set up, invent and redesign all the things to make the composition perform. This features hues, values as properly as the personal components in the portray. For instance, the boats in the foreground ended up entirely built up based on the basic styles of vessels you’d come across along the river. The values ended up also meticulously executed to develop that specific time of day when the sunlight sets, and the initially lights of the city come on.”

In our fascination with how the eye sees and then translates the planet about us to our brains, we have located it specifically fascinating to analyze how the eye sees at night.
